Rethinking Eduction

Reading this I really thought that the ideas and arguments that they came up with was not necessarily true. Yes the world is always changing in how people think and communicate but you don't have to change the way school has been going just because of the point they made. I believe its always good to add new things to school to get students better prepared for the real world. The way we communicate is changing. We are moving from "communities of place" to "communities of interest." At the end of the day technology is becoming more and more popular and schools will become more and more advanced in technology. Putting students in situations where computer tools are necessary to solve complex problems will kick start schools to change basic instructional practices.

  1. The point was that if we want students to be prepared for the world, where it is and where it is clearly going by way of technology, then we must familiarize them with it, and teach them how to use it. It would be like not using a microscope in biology, just because they didn't always have them, and scientist's seemed to figure out all kinds of things before. We are here now, with these tools, those who don't learn and take advantage of them will miss the boat.

  2. I think that technology in the classroom is increasing in importance because it interests students, and the youngest generation(students) will always have the most recent technology. It allows them to be more hands on.
